I've been to this restaurant a number of times, usually when I have a craving for Japanese food and don't want to put forth effort to pick anywhere else.
The food is inconsistent: sometimes the portions of sushi are larger per piece or fresher and sometimes not. The service for such a small place could be faster and more attentive, and the place is frequently quieter than a library.
I've ordered a large party tray over the phone. It was the most horrible and overpriced ($60) sushi I ever had. The fish was not fresh, especially tuna - at lest I guess it was tuna - it really looked like dry-cured ham to me. The ginger was inedible, the inside-out vegetarian rolls fell apart, I could not find even one piece that tasted ok. Stay away.
Overall, we had a good experience eating at this restaurant.
We shared our dishes so it was pretty cheap.
Food was fresh.
If you want to go out for sushi - this is a nice option.
This review is way past due; I've been coming here frequently for over 5 years now for no reason other than it is FANTASTIC. The master chef and his wife are such lovely people who's efforts and dedication to the restaurant really have a great influence on the atmosphere. Did I mention that the food is amazing? The rolls are made fresh and just simply really well. I love the design of the seating area and how the booths are separated it really gives a cozy feel to the place. It's really excellent value for the quality of food that you're getting.
