The affirming "all signs point to yes" reply that echoes the fortune-telling fun of the Magic 8 Ball is etched into the laminate wood flooring at the entrance of The Good Spirit, Vancouver's modern metaphysical boutique.
The transcendental (and Instagram-worthy) message is an intentional design decision by owner Savannah Olsen. Savannah is targeting millennials and introducing them to the tools of the spiritual world with a light approach, a modernized take on the old hippie-dippy shops as she puts it.
"I want to take this store to the next level and present it in a way that speaks to a younger generation or repackage it so younger people might be able to relate," says Savannah. "We try to present everything in a light environment, especially with the tarot, because some might view it as a dark thing. It's all very intentional in what we've done with the store and the products that we carry."
