If your career has gone to the dogs, then clearly, that's not a good thing, unless you're Shannon O'Reilly. A former marketing executive based in Vancouver, Shannon left the corporate grind and tapped into her entrepreneurial spirit when she founded Uptown Dawg. Her vision: to carve out a unique industry niche by offering services beyond the traditional doggy daycare.
Shannon opened Uptown Dawg's Port Moody's location in 2005 with the help of her supportive mother, who encouraged Shannon to pursue her dream. Resonating with the community, the business flourished, and in 2011 she opened a second location in Coquitlam, followed by a third outpost in New Westminster in 2014.
