A hoppin’ stop on the 85th Street Southwest suburban restaurant row, Vinroom West is the sister spot to Vinroom Mission. Though much bigger, this location shares the other’s pleasant atmosphere, beautifully crafted tapas menu as well as an Enomatic wine dispenser that facilitates the tasting of small sips of premium-label wine. Try pairing your wine with really fine lunchtime sandwiches.

A warm and welcoming main-floor restaurant located downtown on Eighth Avenue Southwest, Escoba serves pizza and pasta as well as a steak-and-seafood selection of mains. With glasses or bottles from its concisely curated wine menu, you might also consider its top-notch charcuterie and cheese platters.

Coffee as well as alcoholic beverages are on the menu at this buzzy, brick-and-burgundy Inglewood café and wine bar. Wine-pairable repast includes panini sandwiches, soups and salads as well as cheese boards and desserts. The vino is short, international and includes red, white and sparkling sips by the glass or bottle. Friday and Saturday evenings, your wine sipping and light dining is served with a live singer-songwriter sound track.

This airy wine bar at Heritage and Macleod is handsomely furnished in black, white and burgundy seating while its walls feature floor-to-ceiling bottle selections and wine-cellar photomurals. The reds and whites are primarily Italian, while the sparkling selections include French and Spanish labels. Next Door’s contemporary menu features pizza and pasta dishes as well as sharable antipasti plates plus steak-and-seafood mains. Friday is live music night with performances by local and touring performers from classical to country-pop and Latin. Outdoor patio.

The quintessential Mexican meal, tacos are also a relatively scarce commodity in Calgary. However, we’ve done some digging and unearthed the select few restaurants that make truly marvelous versions of these hand-held snacks.
The city’s summer season features a delicious dance card of culinary festivals and events. Many, such as Stampede-time pancake breakfasts, are easy to access the day of, but the various tasting and tippling shindigs listed here can fill up quickly, so purchasing tickets sooner than later for these foodie festivities is recommended.
