“I love the idea of taking material and labour and creating something of greater value,” says Jim Stanger. “This is part of the creative process.”
Jim runs the custom furniture workshop Woodwork Studios with Derek Harrison. The two friends met while working at another studio years ago. “I’d always had a dream of working for myself and didn’t want to put it off any longer,” says Jim. “I found that Derek was on the same page so we decided to open our own shop in 2000.”
Jim and Derek create just about every type of furniture, except for chairs, which they have made by a trusted supplier. Interior designers and furniture-enthusiasts leave Woodwork Studios with beautifully crafted items that serve as central pieces or finishing touches to their spaces.
