“Early on, we devised our own line of products with an eye on keeping them affordable for clients,” says Luisa Ciardulli. “The process took about a year and I tried and tested all of them several times as ‘the average woman’. It was fun!” The drive for a customized line of products for Calia Hair was triggered when stylists and owners of the salon, Luisa and husband Peter, detected some holes in the existing market. “We wanted something to sculpt curly hair and some unisex shampoo,” notes Luisa.
Among the popular range they created, their mint and rosemary combination shampoo is now one of the best sellers in the salon. “We stock a range of other product lines too. But our Calia Hair range sells the best because it’s good quality and kind on the pocketbook.” This entrepreneurial spirit is typical of Luisa and Peter’s drive to go the extra mile for their clients, which probably explains why many followed them from salon to salon before they opened their own place in 2000.
