“I love it when people come in and say they need to do something or other with this ‘thingy’ in their bathroom which looks ‘something like this’,” says Joe Valenza, owner of Baby Point Hardware. “With a little digging I’ll find out what it is they need and usually have whatever it is in stock no matter how obscure.”

In the hardware business for decades, Joe was brought up amongst nuts and bolts, brushes and rollers. His father also ran a hardware store and Joe helped out after school and on weekends. “We were an immigrant family so we all had to work hard to get ahead. All we kids chipped in to help the business.”

    The absolute worst customer service! I entered the Anette home hardware in search of a small saw blade that had broken. When I asked the Asian gentleman just pointed to the back of the store and told me they were there to choose from. I kindly asked for advice, which seemed to really annoy him. He went with me to the racks and pointed out the blades. I asked him if they would fit (I had the saw with me) and he said that the blades were an exact match. I pointed out that part of the broken blade
