Excellent family-owned restaurant. Fish and seafood not overcooked! Great staff. A favourite.
Not impressed. Felt we were being rushed and food wasn't good. Mushy carrots and broccoli the size of my hand. Prime rib was tough. Plating is disappointing. Especially for a restaurant that considers itself "fine dining". Will not be back.
Took my wife for our anniversary and she loved the food and atmosphere. Food took a bit to come but we we were not in a rush. Staff were very friendly and knowledgable.
We went as a party of four. It was our first time here. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very formal, old world Italian décor (picture murals on the wall) and servers in formal attire. I do not mind going to restaurants with this kind of atmosphere, but it has to be in the right environment and a strip plaza in Mississauga isn't quite my ideal if I were to go out for a fancy night out on the town. While this formal atmosphere could have been intimidating to our party who was out for a casual meal, our male server's dry sense humour helped put me at ease. For example, when we was bringing my swordfish out he announced it, tongue in cheek, to the table as chicken. I can tell you that this was especially appreciated (and a bit surprising) when you look and realize you are surrounded by servers in bowties who were all standing at ease! About the food: while the other three had delicious entrées (melt in your mouth Prime Rib and Filet Mignon, succulent and flavourful Stuffed Shrimp) my swordfish was unfortunately overcooked and dry. I was able to savour the little bites the other diners were generous enough to share with me, however the chewy texture of this swordfish made me unable to enjoy or even finish my entrée. This was a disappointment for me that will unfortunately stick with me when I think of this restaurant. I did select that I would Visit this restaurant again, but that is mostly to try out the Caesar salad which is hand tossed from scratch tableside.
I want to thank Aristotles for making my daughters baptism an absolute success!!! I have been to Aristotles several times in the past, but always with small groups of 2-6 people. When my husband suggested using them for our daughters baptism with 37 guests I was hesitant as restaurants often have a hard time feeding large groups. NOT HERE!!! We were astounded. The steaks, chicken and salmon that we offered on our set menus were cooked to everyones liking. A banquet hall would definitely not ask each guest how they want their steak cooked. And they definitely would not get it right the way Aristotles did! The side dishes were delicious, the rice and veggies perfectly cooked. The kids all loved their chicken fingers and fries. The waiters were an absolute joy to work with before and during our event. During dinner they entertained the guests, stopping to talk at every table. And before the party we were in touch with the staff several times to arrange cake drop off and flower delivery (which they put on the tables for us). I arrived early assuming I'd have to set up and ask for a cake and gift table, but they had thought of everything! Dessert and coffee were served on time, and the whole event had a great flow. We did not feel at all rushed to leave after dinner and took our time enjoying the occassion with our family. We truly felt at home. Thank you Aristotles, we will definitely be back.
This was my first visit to aristotles and we went after hearing about it from a friend who attended a communion there. Three of us had steaks that were grilled exactly how we had asked for them. The other person had the salmon which I personally don't like but my wife raved about how amazing it was. Two people opted to pay extra for the Caesar which was made right at our table. It was well worth the value. Aristotles is our new go to restaurant, and not just for special occasions The prices are not ridiculously high like other steak houses. Well worth it's value.
I used to visit Aristotle’s at least once a year. The food used to be fresh and service was decent. I recently had the misfortune of attending a function booked at this establishment. The experience was so horrendous I was compelled to sign up and leave a review on this website. I want to keep this as short as possible. The Food: Not sure if this was because we had a group of around 20 or so people but here is what people had to say.. including myself. Frozen reheated vegetables - have tasted better canned veggies. Steak - Rubbery, undercooked with no flavor. Caesar salad - on the verge of rotting and soggy, it appears these were made the night before and put in the fridge. The service was also horrible, the staff looked like they didn’t want to be there and were quite rude at times. I left this place feeling ripped off, how dare they serve frozen vegetables and soggy salad. Not to mention the steak was just plain bad. I will not be returning and will let other friends and family members know why. This is disappointing I have been multiple times over the last 15 years and had always told people how wonderful the food was.
I went to Aristotle's with my family for my birthday, however even if you tell them it's your birthday you don't get anything special (not even a small dessert). We ordered calamari as our appetizer, which was very good. For our main meals, we ordered the scallops, salmon, and filet mignon, all of which were very good. However, the portions were too large and we were struggling to clear our plates. The only bad thing about our meals is that the broccoli was soggy and the scallops had stones in them. Also the dressing was poured onto the middle of the salad and we had to mix it in ourselves (I also got big chunks of head lettuce, so I didn't eat those pieces). There weren't any great dessert options - they only had cakes with heavy icing. We usually order creme brulee, which was not available. The service was really slow, but the waiter was friendly. Overall, the food was good and filling. The atmosphere was great - we were warm and cozy by the fireplace.
Great Meal as always. Extra large portions and great service. Bring a large appetite and you will still need a doggy bag as the protions are huge. The best steaks and prime rib around and the Aristle's platter is enough for 3 people. The clams are a great appetizer and the caesar salad is made fresh in front of you. I have been going there for several years and never had a bad meal or poor service.
Very good service, awesome steak.
They are redoing the interior and Peter is claiming to be doing the work. (LOL). Still the best and finest restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario. Far superior to Zorro's, La Castile etc. Always a treat to get back to the best restaurant in Ontario. Try it, you'll like it!!
The wait staff was friendly and prompt. The portion sizes were large. Unfortunately, the praise stops there. I food was very underwhelming. I started with an appetizer of mussels in a tomato-based sauce. Many of the mussels were either unopened or only partially opened. That is not a good sign for freshness. My main course was seared veal steak Oscar style topped with asparagus and hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise was nearly flavorless and was separated. The crab was a rubbery to the point that wondered if it was imitation. This most certainly was not the worst restaurant in which I have eaten, but it did not measure up to the level described by other reviewers.
We have lived within walking distance from this restaurant for over 9 years. Why we have never gone beyond me. But I can certainly tell you it will not be the last. We started with the Caesar salad made fresh at our table. It was "delish". The appetizers were very tasty. Shrimps were fresh and the cocktail sauce tasted homemade. Both steaks were made exactly the way we requested them. We completed this outstanding meal with B52 coffee and creme bruler cheese cake. My mouth is still watering as I write this review. I cannot wait to visit again. Next time we will try the lamb. Something tells me we will not be disappointed.
May 2009 I took my fiance to Aristotle's and he was amazed. The atmosphere was incredible, and the hosts made us feel like family. We spent the evening impressed as they made our ceasar salad from scratch. They even went the extra mile and told us the history of Aristole's. This family owned restaurant has captured our hearts so much that we took his mother there for her birthday. Even she was overwelmed with the portions. Aristotle's is worth every penny. Keep Amazing People with your warm and happy environment!!! Thank you Peter, Nick and John!
Read the reviews and I wonder if some of these people are from outer space!! We have been going to this establishment for over 20 years, and yes sometimes they make mistakes, but we are still going there and its our favorite restaurant. I called in on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 1:25 PM and requested Table # 50 (fireplace) and we arrived just after 7:00 PM, and the table was taken by 4 young people. We were sitted at the back of the restaurant, all alone and we really didn't care where we were seated as we had come for a meal. Ask for John to make the Ceasar Salad, its to die for!!. He gives great service and sings Happy Birthday like an Opera Singer or Pavarotti. Nick makes great drinks and tends to your every whim!! Peter is a legend in his own mind and will tell you stories, so just do him a favor and laugh at his jokes. It makes him feel better. This restaurant is open for LUNCH and you should try and get in and sample the food. We have had special 50th Wedding Anniversaries, 90th Birthdays and just plain birthdays and we all come back. They have a special menu for these events and it is quite reasonable. Make your reservation, go in and really enjoy yourself, its well worth it. Escargots are and have been the best I've ever eaten!! The garlic bread is also the best you will ever have. Cliff
Although we were late for our reservations an intimate table was provided. The cocktails were made to perfection and were generous. Delicious garlic bread, the best dill pickles and yummy olives were brought to the table immediately. My husband ordered halibut and had ordered ceasar salad instead of house. The ceasar was excellent, although I thoroughly enjoyed my house salad I will order ceasar the next time. A massive, perfectly cooked prime rib was placed in front of me and I figured this would have been enough to feed my large family! Every bite was delicious and again although I had an incredible meal in front of me I enjoyed each bite I took off my husband. I brought over half my meal home and am enjoying it once agian. Aristotles has been a long term favorite of ours and the meal we had reminded us of why we alway choose Aristotles.
I am very confused why this restaurant rated so well. We selected this restaurant based on these reviews and reading them again, I wonder if we went to the same place. I called ahead to make an 8 o'clock reservation and when we walked in not only was there no table ready, the greeter seemed surprised to see us. He seated us at a table which was directly across from a service station and very cold. When we asked if we could be moved to a table closer to the cozy looking fire place, they offered to turn on a space heater. My wine glass had lipstick marks on it and the garden salad was SWIMMING in dressing. The seafood platter was plenty, meat was tender but nothing was seasoned properly.
SERVICE IS VERY GOOD AND FRIENDLY. THE MOTHER WHO WORKS THERE IS ALWAYS SO FRIENDLY AND WARM, ESPECIALLY WITH REGULAR CUSTOMERS. SHE TREATS MY DAUGHTER AS IF IT WERE HER VERY OWN GRAND-DAUGHTER. TRY THE CEASAR SALAD, THEY MAKE IT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.
Honestly, how can you knock Aristotle's? This is hands-down, Mississauga's finest restaurant experience. If this place was in Toronto, it would be held in high regard by the business crowd and a mainstay of downtown dining. Instead, we're lucky enough to have it all for ourselves. Classy, but nowhere near snooty (waiters are both professional and oftentimes, playful and hilarious -- especially the two brothers). Food is always (re: always) outstanding. My only small suggestion would be the addition of some more adventurous daily specials alongside their classic mainstays (lobster-tail, swordfish, steak and lamb).
Wow, I am trying to figure out why they call it a platter for 2 when it is enough food to feed 4. The platter has a variety of meat and seafood. A definite 10 plus!
