Received neither the design we wanted nor a professional set of construction plans. The structure, a cottage,was to include a small sleeping loft. The stairs as designed did not meet standard building code clearance requirements. The solution arrived at, after resubmitting the drawings multiple times, and consulting (at our expense) a structural engineer, was so drastic, and resulted in such an awkward and unsightly change to the structure's appearance, that the loft was ultimately scrapped.

The owner in this case submitted a design from a book that would not work without a dormer. The company that produced this rendering did not take into account the improper headroom. A redesign was proposed with a dormer that would have solved the issue, however the owner would not accept this fix even though the contractor was also suggesting the change. As for the unprofessional drawings, the owner received their building permit and the cottage was constructed.
