In 2009 Jasmin Harker was challenged with the task of naming her salon, which she likened to the same struggles of naming a baby. The name must be something unique, but not bizarre, easy to pronounce but not overtly common — something meaningful and expressive of herself she thought. Pomp & Proper Salon was conceived from simplicity and alliteration. The inspiration came from the splendor of styling hair and a commitment to doing things right. The ampersand as scissors is simply clever and unique.
"I wanted to take everything I had learned from other experiences and address all those issues," reveals Jasmin. "That's definitely where the proper came from." Having started in hair at just 17, Jasmin has grown up in the industry, literally half her life.
Pomp & Proper affords her the opportunity to grow within the industry. "I want to contribute and give back a little," says Jasmin. "Having the salon is the avenue for that while providing me a space to create my own environment."
