“I like to make things,” says Wendy de Kruyff, owner of Dream Apparel & Articles for People, “and there really wasn’t a place that focused on things that were local and handmade, in this era of imports.”
Moving to Vancouver from British Columbia’s interior years ago, Wendy quickly discovered that Vancouver lacked a shop centred on local designers, and started Dream Apparel & Articles for People to fill that void.
“The common thread [of our stock] is that it’s made in Vancouver or close by,” she says, “I do my best to make it possible for someone who’s just made a few things to someone who makes hundreds of things every year.” Wendy is dedicated to providing a space to showcase the best work Vancouver’s designers have to offer, bringing much needed exposure to the city’s thriving but often under-represented fashion scene.
