In 2010, a small tattoo studio in the heart of Langley opened up and quickly became a popular spot for custom art and body piercing. When the original owners decided in 2013 to concentrate on their other business, employee Catra Dee took over Rebellion Tattoo Studio.
The goal at Rebellion Tattoo Studio is to make everyone who walks in the door feel at home. “I like to get to know the clients,” says Catra. “I’ll add a little thing here and there in the artwork. All of that personal stuff has to go into the tattoo – it’s not just the drawing at that point, it’s a life decision.”
Open and honest communication is essential for the artists at Rebellion TattooStudio because they know what they do will last a lifetime and so they want to get it right the first time. “A lot of our clients come in and bring us their ideas and we’ll make it tattooable,” Catra says.
The process starts with a free consultation where the artist gets to know more about the client, what they want and where they want it. Then they book a second appointment where the client gets a chance to see what the final product would look like. “We say pick it apart because it’s forever. Tell us 'I like this' or 'I don’t like that' and then we have an opportunity to change it," says Catra. "So when it comes time to actually tattoo them, we’re on the same page.”
