For Michelle Gaetz, pet grooming was something she always came back to. She first encountered the profession in high school and soon it became her career. “I started grooming dogs in high school,” the owner of Chauvet Dog and Cat Grooming explains. “I tried other things after school, but I ended up coming back to grooming. After working at a couple of pet stores, I opened my own salon. I like that I get to be in charge and set the pace of my day. There’s nothing better than having a full day to look forward to filled with great clients and excellent dogs.”
A lifelong lover of animals of all kinds, Michelle’s decision to open her shop was made, in part, so that she could get to know her clients better, especially the ones getting the haircuts. “We always had animals growing up,” Michelle recalls. “So it was a natural thing for me. I can’t imagine living my life without them. And the human clients are amazing as well. They’ll often come in 20 minutes before their appointment just so we can catch up and chat. I love that part of my job as well, getting to know the people and the animals.”
