Since he was 18 years old, Del has been working in the insulation industry. After moving to British Columbia from Ontario, Del bought his own insulation machine and began insulating attics and other small spaces. In 1986, he set up Knights Insulation Ltd.
With decades of experience insulating residential and commercial properties, Del has built his company into one of the most reputable and reliable insulation companies in the province, even branching out to start a division in Victoria. Del attributes his success to his strong belief in having a family-run business, getting help from his sons Nathan, who is a Lead Estimator, and Jake, who works as a Sprayfoam Technician.
As Knights Insulation has evolved, Del and his company have adopted new and innovative insulating methods. “We can pretty much handle anything to do with insulation,” says Del. “We do every job from start to finish and on a strict timeline, ensuring our customers won’t be left with a job part-way finished.”
Beyond insulation, the company also handles vapour barriers, soundproofing, and spray foam, all of which are crucial to the preservation of older homes. “We get a lot of demand for vapour barriers and foam in older buildings. The standards are much higher now and we have better products for keeping your house insulated and protected. Also, we use the ‘drill and fill’ technique to drill into old walls and add new insulation,” says Del. “This way, we can maintain the original aesthetic of the house without compromising its integrity and safety.”
