In 2008, fourth generation Stevestonite and lifelong cyclist, Brett Martyniuk opened the doors of Village Bikes. His goal was to help his active, growing community with all their cycling needs locally, so they no longer had to journey off to a faceless big-box sporting goods store.
“I’ve been a cyclist for a very long time and it was clear there was a niche to fill in our community,” says Brett.
VillageBikes was a perfect fit for Steveston and for Brett, who loves the variety that fills his days as he helps others pursue his passion. And Brett is always there for his customers. “Whether it’s meeting their fitness goals, starting to commute to work a few times a week, or going for a nice ride with their kids, I really enjoy the opportunity to help people out.”
"And I love that every day is different. One minute I’ll be selling a new helmet, the next I’ll be fine-tuning a bike, fixing a flat tire, or taking care of something really quick for a customer," adds Brett.
It’s this personal and invested customer service of a locally owned and operated specialty shop that really sets Village Bikes apart from its big-box competitors. As you open the door and step into the shop, you can be sure you’ll receive a warm welcome from Brett and his friendly team, all of whom share that same passion for cycling, and for Steveston. Without a doubt, they know their stuff and are keen to help you with all your two-wheel needs.
